Public invited to salute Honor Flight vets for next trip
The Hudson Valley Honor Flight is asking the public to come out and show support for veterans and their guardians who are leaving for a trip to Washington, D.C., where they will be honored for their service on Oct. 12.
Eighty-three veterans will fly to the nation’s capital, each with a respective guardian who acts as their companion up to and during the trip, said Judy Parsells, who will travel with a veteran from Florida, N.Y.
Ten World War II, 37 Korean War, 20 Cold War and 16 Vietnam War veterans will leave from outside the ShopRite in Montgomery at 5:45 a.m. for their flight out of Stewart Airport, returning at 8:45 p.m.
The public and local organizations are invited to cheer on and support the local veterans at both locations as they make their day trip.
“I’m very honored and privileged to be able to do this,” Parsells said by phone Sunday.
