On Veterans Day, Resorts World Announces Hudson Valley Honor Flight’s Lunch of Honor Returning to Catskills
December 3rd Event Represents Resorts World’s Commitment to Honoring New Yorkers Who Served Throughout the Year
Monticello, NY (November 11, 2023) – To mark Veterans Day, Resorts World announced the celebrated Luncheon of Honor recognizing those who served will return to its Catskills resort on Sunday, December 3rd. Hosting this event, led by the Hudson Valley Honor Flight, represents the company’s support of those who served at all three of its New York State properties.
“There is no way to ever fully thank those who served our nation, but Resorts World is dedicated to honoring them and the organizations that support them however we can,” said Meghan Taylor, Resorts World Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Relations. “The Hudson Valley Honor Flight, and its Big Apple sister chapter, do amazing work throughout the year to help veterans and their families. We’re thrilled to welcome them back to Resorts World Catskills for what is truly an inspiring event.”
“Hudson Valley Honor Flight has helped countless veterans commemorate their service and that of those who did not make it home,” said Jennifer DeFrancesco, Executive Director of Hudson Valley Honor Flight. “The Lunch of Honor is an opportunity for veterans of all ages to come together and celebrate their special bond. We are so excited to once again partner with Resorts World Catskills and sincerely thank them for their unwavering support.”
An estimated 650 veterans, including WWII, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, and their families are expected to fill Resorts World Catskill’s Epicenter event space once again. They’ll enjoy lunch and the space’s dance floor while a 20-piece band plays. The event is free to all Hudson Valley Honor Flight veteran alumni; $65 for regular guests; and $55 for active duty/retired service members. The Walden-based Hudson Valley Honor Flight is part of a 100-independent chapter network to transport veterans to Washington, D.C., to pay tribute at their respective memorial. Resorts World has supported the non-profit for several years and in 2023 expanded the relationship between Resorts World New York City and the Big Apple Honor Flight. In May, the Queens facility served as the rally site for veterans departing JFK for their honor flight to Washington.
Resorts World’s partnership with the Honor Flight network is part of a greater dedication to active and retired service members. Key highlights of this commitment include:
- Wall of Honor at Resorts World New York City (RWNYC), Resorts World Catskills (RWC), and Resorts World Hudson Valley (RWHV) in which employees submit photos of their relatives, friends, or themselves while serving.
- A Genting Rewards discount program for active service members and veterans, which includes an automatic upgrade to Silver card level. For more information, please click here.
- A $5,000 donation from RWC, RWNYC and RWHV to MY BROTHER VINNY – an organization that helps furnish living spaces for veterans who have been placed in housing.
- A gift of more than 850 retired card decks to the local Elks Lodge for veterans to play with.
- RWC hosted the Monster 10K Run and 5K Run/Walk, which is organized by the Monticello Rotary to benefit the Sullivan County Veterans Coalition. Team members from all three New York properties took part in the run, which also included a $3,000 donation from Resorts World Gives.
